EDGEFOLD No3 GAIN COMPENSATION FOR 6-REDS DEFEAT

TREVOR WRIGHT
EDGEFOLD No3 travelled to Belper Royal British Legion in the T & M Motors Snooker League with additional sponsorship from Lowes Catering Ltd and were hoping to gain some compensation for their recent Six Red Cup loss at home to the same opposition a couple of weeks ago.
Justin Weller secured the opener for the hosts 77-53 as they were off to a flyer looking for their opening league success of the season.
Roy Taylor got off the mark for the season in the next however to equalise with a 52-20 verdict and then after a titanic battle Trevor Wright came through in the next, potting the high value colours to take the third frame 74-68 on the black.
Josh Dakin made no mistake in frame four to seal the deal for the visitors with a 57-20 triumph before home pairing Steve Bullock and Wayne Shooter reduced the arrears to 3-2 in the concluding doubles leg.

Edgefold No2 were also in winning form and they secured the maximum five points with a 5-0 clean sweep over Alfreton Palmer Morewood No1.
Richard Ferguson, Rob and Ross Muxlow and Josh Lee were all victorious in the singles frames before Ferguson and Muxlow teamed up to complete a great nights work for the Matlock cuemen.

Clay Cross Brotherhood No2 prevented a third Edgefold success however as they defeated the No1 team 3-2 in Matlock.
Rob Mulliss (33 break) and Lee Hage (32 break) both excelled on their seasonal debuts and John Roseman made the game safe in frame three with a 53-26 win.
Scott Brooks did bring the hosts to within touching distance however with victories in both singles and doubles legs, latterly with Steve Burton.

Leaders Bolehill Institute No1 edged out Tansley Potters 3-2 though Joe Neville maintained his hitherto unbeaten run on the pink in the opener before Colin Marchington levelled.
Ricki Slack then took the last three balls to sneak a 64-63 success and although Steve Hawkins equalised, Slack and Ian Birks took the doubles leg 71-39.

Alfreton Palmer Morewood No2 defeated Bolehill No2 4-1 with Kai Hopkins and Ben Monk both on target in the opening encounters.
Jack Lowe then came from 48-0 behind to see off Mick Bunting and finished the night parnering Monk to an 89-43 success, with runs of 39, 28 and 25 during the evening.
Paul Young registered for the visitors in frame four with a 61-45 riposte.

The Crich derby saw the No1 team overcome the No2 team to the tune of 4-1 on School Lane.
Jack Long was successful in his singles and doubles legs while Gareth Rudkin scored a black ball success for the vanquished after Phil Leverton had put the game to bed.

The Classic Gas Bodyshop Billiards League also got underway, with Steve Hawkins (Clay Cross Brotherhood sponsored Player of the Week) in fantastic form with breaks of 47 and 35 for Tansley Potters as they defeated Mayfield Institute 9-7 while Jim McCann had runs of 38 and 37 as Whitworth Institute saw off last season's champions Bolehill Institute 12-7.
