FEELING OF DEJA VU AS FINALISTS WILL MEET AGAIN

IAN McKAY was fast out of the traps for the Golfers
THERE'S a feeling of deja vu in the offing as Matlock Golf Club and Crich Comrades will meet in a second final of the season after they both progressed through this week's Captains Cup team aggregate competition semi finals hot on the heels of their clash in the six red cup last week.
The Golf Club defeated Strutt Club 340-290 on Chesterfield Road with Ian McKay, Charlie Hodgkinson and Tony Blant fast out of the traps to give the hosts a 68 point advantage after just three frames.
Wayne Shooter took a high scoring encounter 85-81 in frame four to stem the tide but the task of an unlikely comeback proved insurmountable in the concluding pairs leg despite Shooter teaming up with captain Steve Bullock to gain a 69-55 frame verdict.

The Tramwaymen returned from Bolehill No 2 with a 345-243 triumph.
John Smith set the tone in the opener and despite a narrow win for the hosts' Keith Robertson in the next, Ady Lowe piled on the pressure with an 86-29 win in frame three to put his side in full control.
Nick Berry secured the next before Robertson and Darren Bunting took a tight but ultimately academic doubles leg.

Matlock's Edgefold Club are now in an unassailable position in the Jimmy Harper Plate competition after defeating Bolehill No 1 329-274.
Rob Muxlow, James Travis and Josh Lee took the first three frames before Ian Birks offered some late resistance, taking each of his singles and doubles legs in vain.
Captains Cup team aggregate semi finals: Matlock Golf Club 340, Belper Strutt Club 290; Bolehill Institute No 2 243, Crich Comrades 345.
Jimmy Harper Plate team aggregate round robin: Edgefold Matlock 329, Bolehill Institute No 1 274.
Breaks: J Travis 29; K Robertson 24; R Slack 22.

GOLFERS TAKE SCOTCH DOUBLES LEGS TO LIFT TROPHY

MATLOCK GOLF CLUB six red champs L-R: Graham Jones, Ian McKay, Tony Blant and Chris Parker. Also played: Charlie Hodgkinson and Paul Roe.
MATLOCK GOLF CLUB lifted the Bob McCartin Six Red Cup courtesy of a 4-2 victory over Crich Comrades at Belper Strutt Club.
John Smith struck first for the Tramway men, leading by 16 with just two balls remaining, he nestled the pink in the jaws of a baulk pocket and although opponent Ian McKay kept it out, the cue ball disappeared into another pocket to seal his fate.

Chris Parker levelled at 1-1 when he sank the pink into the middle pocket after reaping the benefit from a fluke on the blue beforehand.

A pivotal third frame saw Tony Blant snatch it 33-28 as he inadvertently doubled the pink into the opposite baulk pocket after attempting a thin cut and then saw Ade Smith unluckily go in-off on the deciding black.

It was soon 2-2 when Ady Lowe smashed in a superb long blue to leave the pink a sitting duck.

But the golfers took control in the scotch doubles legs with Graham Jones and Blant securing the next 44-28 after the latter's pot on brown left them 26 ahead with just 22 on
.
And then Parker and McKay secured the trophy courtesy of a 47-18 scoreline in frame six with Parker taking green and McKay the brown to leave snookers required.

There was a thriller in the Denis Morton Pairs Handicap quarter finals with Belper's Steve Bullock and Mark Newby recovering from two down to snatch a 3-2 win on the final black against Crich's Smith and Lowe later in the week.

Bob McCartin Six Red Cup final: Matlock Golf Club 4, Crich Comrades 2 (at Belper Strutt Club).
