Monk opened proceedings with a break of 40 in defeating ex Derbyshire champ Graham Jones and closed them with a majestic 55 in the doubles leg, earning him the Viva Italian Restaurant highest break of the week award.
In between that Paul Jarrett (26) and Mark Newby (28) were also amongst the breaks and Steve Bullock narrowly edged the final singles frame 60-52.
Alfreton Palmer Morewood edged the clash at Matlock Club 3-2 with Simon Mayes (23 break) top scoring and then partnering Jamie Rowland to victory in the deciding doubles frame.
Graeme Wood and Paul Bryan had earlier put the posts 2-0 ahead.
Also coming from 2-0 down were Bolehill No 2 in their local derby match with Bolehill No 1.
Ian Peacock took blue, pink and black in the deciding doubles to earn the Mick Hodgkinson Transport player of the week award after he had equalised in the penultimate frame, ending the hitherto unbeaten run of Ian Birks 62-29.
Ricki Slack top scored for the vanquished.
The other local derby clash also was decided by the minimum margin at Edgefold Club, though
the No 1 team had already raced into a 3-0 lead by the time of the No 2's team's fightback.
Andy Russell (32 break) was his usual classy self while Rob Dicken won both his singles and pairs frames for the opposition.
