Crich took on Belper RBL but were on the back foot early doors with Paul Jarrett registering confidently for the visitors with a 65-41 success.
From thereon though, there was little doubting the Tramwaymen's superiority on the night with Paul Trevett and Nick Berry each scoring resounding wins to put their side into the ascendancy.
Then followed a star turn performance from Martin Byard, playing his first full season, who notched runs of 32 in each of his singles and doubles games to put the game to bed in fine style.
Clay Cross travelled to Alfreton No1 and again there was little early indication of what was to come as Des Smith put the hosts in front after a tight game.
Paul Roe, returning to the fold after some time away, was back with a bang as he amassed 81 points in levelling the scores and after victories from old timers Graham Jones and Duncan Waring, the game was safe.
At the top the positions remained largely unchanged with solid victories for the leading pair. Edgefold No1 saw off Alfreton No3 5-0 with Sean Dobney and James Travis triumphant in both singles and doubles legs while Ben Monk weighed in with breaks of 36, 30 and 29 in a 4-1 verdict for Alfreton No2 over Edgefold No2.
Kyle Ryde also announced his return to action in the above match with a century points haul including a run of 26 with Jacob Bradbury's black ball win the only salvation for the Matlock cuemen.
The remaining fixture saw Bolehill Institute gain their second successive win, 3-2 at Tansley Potters though they are still a few points adrift at the foot of the table.
Joe Neville's excellent 37 break in the concluding doubles leg was the contest's highlight but it was too late for the hosts with Ricki Slack top scoring for the victors and Ian Birks making the game safe after Gray Astle had put up a rearguard action to keep his team in the hunt.
Sean Dobney's 31 break in the Denis Morton doubles knockout competition was the bright spark of this week's cup matches as he and James Travis progressed to the quarter finals.
In the Elliott Carpets Billiards League, Whitworth Institute edged past Mayfield Institute 11-10 thanks largely to a run of 65 from evergreen Jim McCann while Bolehill Institute's 14-5 win over leaders Tansley Potters has thrown the tittle race wide open.
