ANDY MAKES THE HISTORY BOOKS WITH A CLASSY TON

ANDY RUSSELL ... century break and century points haul in the same week!
BIGGEST news of the week came not in the League but in one of the individual cup competitions where Edgefold No 1's Andy Russell of Hulland Ward notched breaks of 104 and 54 in his Open Individual Handicap quarter final win over Jaxx's Ben Turner.
This was only the ninth recorded century and the joint fifth highest ever in League competition history, with Scott Cooney's 126 in the 2006 OMYA Cup at the top of the pile.
Russell was also in flying form in this weeks round of J K Interiors and Joinery Services League matches, with breaks of 40,22 and 20 during his singles and doubles wins, including a century points frame haul in the former.
The opposition on the night Alfreton Palmer Morewood had taken the early lead through Simon Mayes but after Rob Muxlow (26 break) had equalised there was no holding the league leaders.

LUKE THOMAS ... colours clearance made game safe for EDGEFOLD No 2
Second placed Bolehill No 2 were defeated 3-2 at Edgefold No 2 despite Ian Peacock getting them off to the best possible start with an 86-47 frame scoreline in the opener.
Jodie McLarkey levelled before Sean Dobney (38 break) and Keith Robertson (28 break) served up a thriller in the next which eventually went to the home player, his ninth win in eleven outings.
Luke Thomas was already in the driving seat before a 27 clearance made the game safe after which the visitors took the consolation doubles.

Matlock Club and Bolehill No 1 both bounced back to form with 4-1 wins, breaking losing stretches of five and seven respectively.
The Dale Road outfit scored a fine victory at Belper Strutt No 2, who went ahead through Chris Stubbs on the black but Paul Holmes top scored in the next and super-sub Dave Allen finished the job in some style.

Strutt No 1 were Bolehill's victims. Similarly, a black ball win for Wayne Shooter did not foretell what was about to unfold as the home side took the remaining frames starting with Simon Zoppi's equalising display of potting.
