EDGEFOLD 2 STORM BACK FROM TWO DOWN AT BOLEHILL

SAM LAVELLE capped a good night for EDGEFOLD No 2
COMEBACK kings of this week's Joinery Joint Snooker League fixture list were Edgefold No 2 who reeled off a third consecutive league victory from their trip to Bolehill No 2, coming from 2-0 down in the process to take the spoils.
Ian Peacock was in storming form for the hosts in the opener with a 71-13 verdict never in doubt from the early stages, and Keith Robertson soon increased the advantage with his own 66-34 success.
Sam Lavelle pulled one back with a convincing 40-4 frame scoreline before Tom Chambers levelled with Robertson (29 break) having to play a second frame under a  points penalty with the home team a player short.
And in the deciding doubles leg, Lavelle capped a good night as he partnered Rob Dicken to a match-winning 59-36 triumph.

Meanwhile, at the top end of the table, two points separate four teams in what looks likely to be another enthralling chase for the title.

Matlock Golf Club ended Bolehill No 1's unbeaten league run by taking the first three frames, with Tony Blant (20 break) top scoring before Ian Birks took both his singles and doubles frames to reduce the scoreline to the minimum margin.

Alfreton Palmer Morewood No 1 went joint top with a 5-0 whitewash of Matlock Club. An exuberant Simon Mays (24 break) was coolness personified as he amassed 92 points to notch his third win in four games and later added the doubles with still undefeated partner Jamie Rowland.

Reigning champs Belper Strutt Club are still struggling to replicate last season's form as they lost 4-1 at the fast improving Alfreton No 2 for whom Tom Broughton and Andrew Haggarty top scored in the doubles after Paul Jarrett had registered for the visitors.

Andy Russell started his OMYA Cup individual knockout defence in fine style with a 60 break en route to a comfortable first round success.

BELPER STRUTT CLUB FIRST UP INTO SIX RED SEMIS

STEVE BULLOCK took the decisive frame for STRUTT CLUB
BELPER STRUTT CLUB are the first team officially through to the semi final stages of the Bob McCartin Six Red Cup following their 5-2 home win over Matlock Golf Club in Group B,
Putting aside an indifferent start to their league title defence, Strutt were in no mood to slip up in the cup and convincing displays from Paul Jarrett, Wayne Shooter and Mark Newby soon had them in a commanding 3-0 lead.
Steve Bullock made victory a certainty with a black ball decider in the next before Graham Jones and Charlie Hodgkinson took the first of the scotch doubles legs for the visitors.
Jarrett and Newby took the next on the black but Tony Blant and Jones again notched what could yet be a vital point leaving Golf Club to face Edgefold No 1 in a winner takes all qualifier for the semis.

The last named earned a 5-2 success at Bolehill No 2 with Dave Martin taking both frames he contested in singles and pairs. Keith Robertson was involved in both scotch double successes for the home side.

Four of the five teams are still in contention going into the final round of games in Group A with Bolehill No 1 moving into top spot with a 5-2 triumph at Alfreton Palmer Morewood No 1.
Ian Birks was victorious in all three frames he contested after Jamie Rowland had continued his undefeated run in league and cup for the hosts.

Alfreton No 2 moved up to second place with their own 5-2 verdict at Edgefold No 2. Tom Broughton and John Smith were undefeated on the night after Sam Lavelle had levelled early doors.
