Paul Hubbard took the opener 64-41 and Paul Trevett added the next 58-42 to put the Tramwaymen in the early ascendancy.
However, a tremendous fightback from the hosts saw Mick Bunting score a 70-45 win and then Dale Shaw opened his account for the season with a 54-34 verdict for 2-2.
And the winning pair then teamed up in the doubles to deliver a 51-24 verdict and complete the turnaround.
The big clash at the top of the table saw Edgefold No2 defeat last seasons champions Edgefold No1 4-1 despite Richard Ferguson (29 break) maintaining his unbeaten run in the opener with a 93-29 success.
Martin Barwick levelled on the black in the next and Scott Brooks put his team ahead with a 58-25 victory in frame three.
Wins for Trevor Wright (62-40) and the Brooks / Reece Johnstone combo in the doubles made it a marvellous night for the victors.
Tansley Potters lie second after a 3-2 defeat of Bolehill No1. Joe Neville (31 break) got the ball rolling with an 87-42 success to maintain his own unbeaten record.
Ricki Slack equalised soon after, fluking the yellow from out of a snooker and clearing the colours for a 67-26 win but Radford Neville's 60-25 verdict had the hosts back ahead.
Ian Birks potted an excellent long black to square things up at 2-2 but Neville(J) mopped up most of the colours in the deciding doubles leg to decide the issue.
Belper Royal British Legion are also riding high after a 3-2 triumph over Alfreton Palmer Morewood No1.
Wayne Shooter and Justin Weller had them two up early doors and despite Phil Longden pulling one back, Steve Bullock put the game to bed before the visitors took the doubles on the black.
Alfreton No2 enjoyed a fine 4-1 win over Clay Cross Brotherhood No2.
Matt Large took the first frame for the visitors but Paul Sainsbury (24 break) and Jack Lowe (25 break) nudged the hosts 2-1 up and a black ball success for Adam Cupit sealed the deal.
Sainsbury continued a good nights work with a 31 break in the doubles leg to earn himself the Clay Cross Brotherhood sponsored Player of the Week mantle.
Clay Cross No1 took maximum points in a 5-0 win over Edgefold No3.
Graham Jones amassed 94 points whilst Ian McKay and Tony Blant took each of their doubles and singles legs.
In the Classic Gas Bodyshop Billiards League, Jim McCann unleashed a barrage of breaks with runs of 48 (twice), 44 and 39 en route to success and Robert Lowe in a tight battle made it a winning night all round for Whitworth Institute as they defeated Mayfield Institute 14-6 despite Keith Gregory's 31 break.
