MATLOCK CLUB HIT THE GROUND RUNNING IN THRILLER

A FULL HOUSE of T & M Motors Snooker League fixtures took place in week two and Matlock Club, after suffering a couple of early postponements, came out of the cobwebs in style to defeat Belper Strutt Club 3-2 on Dale Road.
Paul Bryan took a hard fought opener 58-37 and Graeme Wood turned on the style in the next with a stupendous 77-21 pot-fest to a make it 2-0.
Mark Newby clawed one back in a tight third and Steve Bullock followed up in similar fashion to leave everything on the doubles leg.
And it was Mick Mackfall and Paul Holmes who came out on top for the home team courtesy of a 70-46 verdict.

Matlock Golf Club and Alfreton Palmer Morewood each took maximum available points from 5-0 salvos against Crich 1 and Crich 2 respectively on a bleak week for the Tramwaymen outfits.
Les Mooney top scored for the Golfers on his Darley Dale League debut to supplement Graham Jones' 29 break whilst Tom Broughton notched 85 points for the Amber Valley cuemen.

Whitworth Institute scored their first victory with a 3-2 defeat of Edgefold Club. Jeremy Armstrong and Mark Gwynne-Jones won each of their singles and doubles legs while Rob Dicken was in fine form for the home team.

The Bolehill derby went to the No 1 team by the minimum margin also, Ricki Slack compiling runs of 35 and 31 in his singles leg and taking the deciding doubles with Ian Birks after Keith Robertson had put the No 2 team into an early advantage.
