MARK IS POETRY IN MOTION FOR NARROW LEADERS

MARK GWYNNE-JONES ... a the top of his game for BOLEHILL No 1
ITS TIGHT at the top of the Harriotts Sweet Chariot Event Planning Snooker League with just four points covering the top four teams going into the remaining three weeks of the fixture list.
Bolehill No 1 entertained Belper Strutt Club in this weeks big clash and the hosts engineered a 3-2 victory to edge a point ahead at the summit.
Mark Gwynne-Jones was in stupendous form in the opener, notching two runs of 24 and proving unstoppable around the black spot as he stormed to a 74-2 margin success, in the process becoming the Mick Hodgkinson Transport player of the week.
Ricki Slack increased this shortly afterwards as he clipped home a thin black from range to edge a tight battle with the league's No 1 ranked player Ben Monk 58-45.
Paul Jarrett cut the deficit to just one with a fine potting display but Ian Birks made the game safe by inflicting the first defeat of the season on Justin Weller 58-46.
The concluding doubles went to the final black for what could still be a pivotal point and it was Jarrett again who made no mistake with a fine long pot to reduce the arrears with partner Steve Bullock, earning a 50-49 verdict.

Alfreton Palmer Morewood and Edgefold No 1 each kept up the pressure just below with impressive 4-1 scorelines.
Andrew Beardsley (38) took the Viva Restaurant top weekly break accolade to set the Amber Valley cuemen rolling and only Ian Peacock could offer any resistance for opponents Bolehill No 2.

The Edge Road outfit had a fine win to end Matlock Golf Club's recent resurgence, with Andy Russell (31 break) as usual proving difficult to hold while Nick Kay (run of 25) was best of the home team.

Elsewhere, Rob Dicken continues to lead the race for most wins as he was on target during Edgefold No 2's 4-1 success over Matlock Club. Keith Manlove and Mick Mackfall thwarted the whitewash in the doubles leg.

Edgefold No 1 team mates Andy Russell and Rob Muxlow will contest the individual handicap final as they both earned 3-1 wins in the semis.
