EDGEFOLD No1 NARROWLY DEFEAT TANSLEY POTTERS

DUNCAN HARWOOD ... singles and doubles wins
THERE was a big clash at the top of the T & M Motors Snooker League table as last years champions Edgefold No1 took on pre-match leaders Tansley Potters and it turned out to be a real thriller going down to the deciding doubles frame.
Duncan Harwood opened in fine style for the hosts with a 78-53 salvo before star reserve Martin Lawrence with a top pedigree in the Sheffield and Chesterfield Leagues hit back to level 82-51 in the absence of Radford Neville.
Richard Ferguson ground out a 75-59 verdict in the next but Joe Neville took pink and black in frame four to maintain his unbeaten run for 2-2 after Steve Burton had potted pink and gone in-off just prior to this.
However, Harwood and Tommy Smith steered the Matlock cuemen to victory with a 73-30 success for 3-2.

Edgefold No2 thus jump back to the top of the table still with a game in hand after their 3-2 win at Crich Comrades.
Josh Dakin edged a tight opener and Scott Brooks (28 break) added the second before Nick Berry hit back strongly for the hosts with a 59-11 riposte.
However, Trevor Wright was in fine form, winning 80-21 before Ade Smith and Paul Trevett reduced the deficit in the concluding doubles leg.
Edgefold 1 and 2 meet in the league next up.

Belper Royal British Legion overturned their recent six red cup loss at Bolehill Institute in great style with a 4-1 win.
Steve Bullock took the opener with his opponent Ian Doe going in off the deciding black before Colin Marchington levelled at 1-1.
Mark Newby controlled the next for a 51-10 win and Justin Weller cued superbly in winning each of his singles and doubles legs, latterly teaming up with fellow victor Newby for a black ball success.

Alfreton Palmer Morewood No1 saw off Clay Cross Brotherhood No1 3-2 with John Smith top scoring for the hosts and Duncan Waring doing likewise for the visitors.

The No2 side from Alfreton took all four singles legs from Edgefold No3 with Paul Sainsbury (22 break) top scoring though Roy Taylor and Conrad Spencer avoided the clean sweep in the pairs leg as the Amber Valley side ran out 4-1 winners.

Clay Cross Brotherhood No2 defeated Bolehill No2 5-0 in the other match with the visitors continuing to have a tough run.
John Roseman and Matt Large amassed 94 points in the doubles leg with the total aggregate for the five winning frames being 402 points.

The Clay Cross Brotherhood sponsored player of the week goes to Matt Large who also ran up breaks of 27 and 21 in his singles victory.
