TON-UP BEN GETS THE PARTY STARTED FOR PJ'z No 1

PJ'z CLUB RIPLEY No 1 retained their A Division title in the last round of matches by a solitary point thanks to an excellent 4-1 win at home to Jaxx Q Club No 1 of Belper.
But even that feat was probably eclipsed by Ben Monk's 100 clearance in the opening frame of the night which set them off on the front foot, only the third such break ever recorded in the league match format.
Andrew Gratton pulled out a fine 35 break when the chips were down in frame two to secure the prize for most individual wins in the section, and then Ben swung back into action with efforts of 46 and 28 in the concluding doubles match.
Only Steve Robinson managed to temporarily stem the tide for the Belper side.

Bolehill Institute No 1 pushed them right to the wire with a 4-1 success at Belper Strutt Club No 2. Ricki Slack top scored with 85 points as he and Ian Birks won both frames they contested.
But Dave Needham's success for the home side in the second frame ended any hopes they had of catching the leaders.

Matlock's Edgefold Club were unfortunately unable to raise a team for their trip to play the No 2 team at PJ'z and conceded the points voluntarily.

Matlock Golf Club take the B Division championship following a 3-2 victory at Bolehill Institute No 2 where Graham Jones and Chris Parker scored vital black-ball decisions in a hard fought encounter.
Mark Gwynne-Jones and Dwayne Martin's win in the doubles ensured the home team make the end of season play offs.

Also in the play offs will be Jaxx Q Club No 2 of Belper who had a well earned 3-2 home win over Belper Strutt Club No 1.
Andy Hayes continued his winning streak whilst Adam Ballard confirmed his impressive late season form, scoring 72 points in his singles match and then, partnered by Alan Scrivener, 80 points in the doubles.
Paul Jarrett and Wayne Shooter notched the points for the visitors.

In the remaining clash, Bolehill Institute No 3 edged out Matlock Club 3-2.
Jake Lynam set the ball rolling for the hosts in a rare appearance this season and despite Paul Holmes making a successful return for the visitors - emerging triumphant from both frames he was involved in - it wasn't quite enough on this occasion.
