GOLF CLUB CONTINUE TO CARRY ALL BEFORE THEM

PAUL ROE amassed 97 points for MATLOCK GOLF CLUB
MATLOCK GOLF CLUB continued their fine start to the T & M Motors Snooker League season with a third straight win as they held on for a 3-2 win against the battling visitors from Crich Comrades.
Tony Blant took the opener in convincing fashion 70-38 and Paul Roe turned on the style in the next as he amassed 97 points in making it 2-0.
Twice Derbyshire champion Graham Jones secured the win in frame three courtesy of a 70-41 scoreline but late resistence from John Smith who took his singles frame on the black and doubled up with Cliff Gould to win the pairs, reduced the deficit to the minimum margin at the finish.
Both the other games went to the deciding frame as Edgefold defeated Bolehill No 2 courtesy of a length of the table double on the final black from Sean Dobney, who had earlier contributed breaks of 34 and 30. Rob Dicken (25 break) had levelled matters after Keith Robertson edged the visitors ahead.
And Bolehill No 1 came from 2-1 adrift to edge out Matlock Club with Ian Birks top scoring after Paul Holmes had put the away team in the ascendancy.
League week 3 results: Matlock Golf Club 3, Crich Comrades 2; Edgefold Matlock 3, Bolehill Institute No 2 2; Bolehill Institute No 1 3, Matlock Club 2.
Breaks: S Dobney 34,30; R Dicken 25; R Slack 24.
