GOLF CLUB EDGE OPENING GAME AT MATLOCK CLUB

CHRIS PARKER ... decisive scoreline for MATLOCK GOLF CLUB
THE opening round of matches in The Joinery Joint Snooker League took place this week and with last seasons champions Belper Strutt Club sitting it out, it was a chance for some of the other contenders to steal an early march.
Matlock Club were off to a winning start in the six red cup last week but couldnt quite contain visitors Matlock Golf Club who took the spoils with a 3-2 verdict.
Richard Deakin took the first of four black ball frames before Chris Parker increased the lead with the most decisive scoreline of the night, aided by a run of 22.
Keith Manlove reduced the arrears 56-51 in the next but Graham Jones' 72-71 nail-biter secured a decisive advantage for the visitors before the two Pauls, Holmes and Bryan took the remaining doubles leg.

Alfreton Palmer Morewood No 1 reversed last weeks six red cup defeat to Edgefold No 2 in fine style with a 4-1 win. Rob Dicken took the opener for the visitors but from thereon the hosts took control with Jamie Rowland and Simon Mayes in fine form.

Edgefold No 1 are the early table-toppers as they took all five points against newcomers Alfreton No 2. Andy Russell (breaks of 36,23 and 22) was in particularly good touch.

And in the Bolehill derby, the No 1 team defeated the No 2 outfit 4-1 with Ricki Slack (breaks of 24 and 20) top scoring and taking each of his singles and doubles frames. Mick Bunting was on target for the vanquished.
