STRUTT THREE POINTS CLEAR AFTER COMEBACK WIN

STEVE BULLOCK ... in defiant mood for BELPER STRUTT CLUB
BELPER STRUTT CLUB drew three points clear at the top of the Harriotts Sweet Chariot Event Planning Snooker League as they came from behind to defeat Edgefold No 2 by the minimum margin on Campbell Street.
Mark Newby was soon into his stride in keeping with the early start this match had and took the opener convincingly before Rob Dicken maintained his unbeaten five match run with a black ball verdict over Paul Jarrett to equalise.
Josh Lee then edged the visitors in front but home captain Steve Bullock was in defiant mood as he equalised at 2-2 before Jarrett and Newby took the deciding doubles with aplomb.

Matlock Club gained their fourth 3-2 win in seven games, this time against Matlock Golf Club with Mick Mackfall (Mick Hodgkinson Transport player of the week) and Paul Bryan playing starring roles as they won both their singles and doubles frames, after Ian McKay had temporarily put the visitors ahead.

There were fine wins for both teams from Bolehill with the No 1 team earning a 4-1 success at Alfreton Palmer Morewood  and the No 2 outfit edging out Edgefold No 1 3-2.
Ricki Slack's win from 45 adrift in frame three proved pivotal after Kevin Rowland had equalised for the Amber Valley line-up whilst Keith Robertson was in barnstorming form for the second team, earning an 87-16 verdict over last seasons player of the year Andy Russell.
Richard Ferguson (28 break) had earlier gotten the vanquished off to a flying start and thus shared the Viva Restaurant top weekly break accolade with Robertson.

No 1 TEAM BACK FROM BRINK IN THE BOLEHILL DERBY

COLIN MARCHINGTON sunk the black for BOLEHILL No 1
THE Bob McCartin Six Red Cup group stages took centre stage this week and the most thrilling climax came in the Bolehill derby as the No 1 team came from 0-3 down to take a 4-3 verdict over the No 2 outfit on the deciding final black.
Ian Peacock scored a comprehensive opening frame win for the No 2-ers before Keith Robertson fluked the black into the middle pocket to make it 2-0.
Martin Forster soon had the third on the board before Ricki Slack and Andrew Brough combined with aplomb to record a 30 break in the scotch doubles, then Slack partnered Colin Marchington to make it 2-3 soon afterwards.
Ian Birks, a late arrival, made it just in time to equalise in the final singles leg and it was he and Marchington who took the concluding doubles frame, the latter coolly executing a cut into the middle pocket from under the baulk cushion to earn the verdict.

Edgefold No 1's Andy Russell and Nathan Haymes scored the highest run so far in scotch doubles play with a 34 at Matlock Golf Club though it was the latter who scored a 5-2 victory as Charlie Hodgkinson top scored in frame three and Nick Kay decided the issue soon afterwards.

NARROW WIN FOR BOLEHILL No 1 IN SIX RED OPENER

IAN BIRKS... took the black in the scotch doubles to seal the win
THERE was a break from league action this week as the Bob McCartin Six Red Cup took centre stage with the first group games taking place.
Belper Strutt Club hosted Bolehill Institute No 1 and it was the visitors who took home a 4-3 victory.

Simon Zoppi and an impressive Steve Bullock (20 break) shared the opening frames though wins for Ian Birks (on the black) and Andrew Brough (on pink) swayed the game in Bolehill's favour.

Paul Jarrett and Wayne Shooter took the first of the scotch doubles legs for the hosts but Birks and Zoppi sealed the deal with another black ball win before Bullock and Shooter took the last three balls to cut the deficit to the minimum margin at the end of an entertaining contest.

Edgefold No 1 got off to a great start, taking the opening six frames against Matlock Cliub. Andy Russell (breaks of 29 and 22) and Neil Parkinson (25) were in excellent form though Keith Manlove and Graeme Wood avoided the clean sweep by taking the final scotch doubles leg.
