CRICH STILL SMOKING HOT BUT SUCH A TIGHT TITLE RACE

COLIN MARCHINGTON rescued the opening frame for BOLEHILL No 1
THERE was a shake-up at the top of the T & M Motors Snooker League this week with new leaders Crich Comrades increasing their advantage with a win over their nearest rivals whilst Bolehill Institute No 1 team continued their consistent streak of results to remain close in contention.
Bolehill travelled to Matlock Club but with Graeme Wood looking home and hosed in the opener, it seemed a tough night lay ahead until Colin Marchington got the snooker he required and took blue, pink and black to sneak an unlikely win.
Ricki Slack also took pink and black to make it 2-0 and in another tight battle, Ian Birks scored a 51-42 triumph on the pink to make the game safe.
However, Keith Manlove secured his own black ball victory in the next and then Paul Holmes and Dave Benson teamed up in the doubles leg to make the score very respectable at the close.

Crich defeated Matlock Golf Club 4-1 with Cliff Gould, Ade Smith and Ady Lowe putting them 3-0 up in no time at all not withstanding Ian McKay's run of 39 before Tony Blant (27 break) offered the only salvo for the early pacesetters.

Bolehill No 2 defeated Edgefold 3-2 with Darren Bunting opening his account fot the season and Ian Peacock sealing the deal while Sam Lavelle top scored for the visitors.

Graham Jones (28 break) reduced the deficit in the next but a black ball victory in the doubles leg for Mick Bunting and Mark Sayer secured the win after an unfortunate in-off for the visitors.
Charlie Hodgkinson pulled one back at the end.

Bolehill No 2 went second with a 3-2 win at Edgefold. Rob Dicken took a re-spotted black to level Colin Marchington's early salvo but a run of 35 from Ricki Slack in the doubles leg helped contribute to overall success.

CRICH TAKE CONTROL AFTER EDGEFOLD'S QUICK START

DUNCAN HARWOOD gave EDGEFOLD an early lead
CRICH COMRADES took advantage of a week of inactivity for Matlock Golf Club to move within one point of the leaders after a hard earned 3-2 success at Edgefold Club.
However, they needed to do things the hard way as thier prospects were looking decidedly bleak after the home team's Duncan Harwood and Sam Lavelle had taken the opening two frames, 57-40 and 56-37 respectively.
Ady Lowe pulled one back in the next however, before Nick Berry continued his fine early season form to equalise before Lowe teamed up with captain Ade Smith to take the deciding doubles leg 61-36.

Bolehill Institute No 1 remained in touch with a 3-2 verdict over Belper Strutt Club; Ricki Slack top scoring courtesy of a run of 29. Wayne Shooter, sporting a new cue, was in fine form for the visitors, taking his singles and doubles legs with some excellent potting.

But Mick Mackfall secured the triumph in frame three before Ade Smith and Keith Fretwell reduced the margin in the concluding doubles leg.
