OMYA CUP WIN FOR SLACK AND STRUTT 1 TAKE SECOND

OMYA CUP (Individual Scratch) finalists RICKI SLACK and ANDY RUSSELL
THE OMYA Cup (Individual Scratch) final took place at Matlock Club this week resulting  in a 4-1 success for Bolehill Institute's Ricki Slack over the season's most prolific winning player, Edgefold's Andy Russell.
Slack hit the ground running in the opener with breaks of 35 and 28 setting the tone before taking a more cagey frame on the green after Russell had needed all the remaining colours to tie.
Slack again led by 14 with the last three balls remaining in the next but despite spurning a gilt edged chance on an easy blue through over-stretching, it wasn't long before he despatched a much tougher shot on his next visit for 3-0.
Russell found his feet in the next with a storming long pot on the brown reducing the arrears but again his opponent held sway in frame five and once taking the black with the final red (along with yellow and green) Slack was home and hosed for his fourth win in the events history.
Thanks are extended to Mick Mackfall for preparing the table and undertaking refereeing duties along with his assistant and Neil Parkinson who each did smaller stints.

The runners-up spot and play off placings were also up for grabs in the final scheduled  round of J K Interiors and Joinery Services League matches.

Jaxx Q Club went under 4-1 at Matlock Cons, who sneak in to the play offs as no 8 seed accordingly with Charlie Hodgkinson and Nick Kay top scoring after Devon Neave had given the visitors an early lead.

This left Bolehill No 2 needing a 4-1 win at Belper Strutt No 1 to reclaim second spot after holding that mantle for most of the season but it was the hosts who held firm thanks to a 3-2 verdict.
Ben Monk edged Mark Sayer in the first before Ian Peacock (24 break) equalised and then Mark Newby and Mick Bunting shared the following frames leaving the match resting on the final pairs leg.
Wayne Shooter and Newby took this 52-30 to give the hosts 14 wins out of 18 for the season.

Cons had also been in winning action earlier in the week with a vital 4-1 success at Matlock Club, with Richard Deakin top scoring after Graeme Wood had amassed 91 points for the hosts in the opener.

Rob Dicken was in good form as Edgefold No 2 triumphed 4-1 at Alfreton Palmer Morewood (no further details through as yet) and Bolehill No 1 received a walkover as Belper Strutt No 2 were reportedly unable to field a team to travel on any of the remaining available dates.
