STRUTT CLUB IN POLE POSITION WITH CLIMAX CLOSE

WAYNE SHOOTER ... tough nut to crack this season
IN WHAT could potentially turn out to be a handover of the League Championship, Belper Strutt Club scored an impressive 4-1 win at last season's champions Edgefold No 1 to go a point clear at the top of the Harriotts Sweet Charot Event Planning League going into the final round of games.
Rob Muxlow (34 break, taking the Viva Restaurant high break of the week mantle for a second successive week) has been in fine form lately but opponent Wayne Shooter has been a tough nut to crack this season and he took a black ball decider to edge the visitors in front.
Mark Newby increased the lead with a 62-42 verdict in the next before Duncan Harwood pulled one back for the hosts with a convincing 79-47 salvo.
However, Ben Monk returned to winning form in the clash of the titans as he avenged his recent OMYA Cup semi final defeat to Andy Russell, with a run of 30 proving pivotal in a 64-30 win to become the Mick Hodgkinson Transport player of the week before he and Steve Bullock added the concluding doubles leg at the end.

Alfreton Palmer Morewood kept up the pressure with a 3-2 win at Edgefold No 2. The two leading protagonists in the race for the player scoring most wins during the season clashed in the opener and it was Rob Dicken who triumphed 70-26 over Kevin Rowland to secure the prize.
It was all square going into the doubles leg but Jamie Rowland and Simon Mayes made no mistake to leave everything to play for in round 21.

Their opponents will be third placed Bolehill Institute No 1 who kept their slim hopes alive with their own 3-2 scoreline over Matlock Club.
Ricki Slack (breaks of 25 and 21) and Graeme Wood top scored for their respective teams with scores in the eighties.

Bolehill No 2 kept up their improved from of late with a 3-2 success at Matlock Golf Club. Ian McKay and Graham Jones had the hosts 2-0 up but a successful fightback culminated in a doubles win for twin brothers Ian Peacock and Martin Forster, who will meet in the "B" Intermediate Individual final after their respective semi final wins this week.

ALL CHANGE AT THE TOP AS ALFRETON REACH SUMMIT

IAN PEACOCK ... clip into the middle pocket completed the whitewash for BOLEHILL No 2
IT WAS SWINGS and roundabouts at the top of the Harriots Sweet Chariot Event Planning League as two matches involving challenging teams with close frames had contrasting outcomes leaving Belper Strutt Club and Alfreton Palmer Morewood level at the top of the table with two games remaining.
Both teams have the same number of wins but Alfreton hold the deciding advantage from head to head meetings if the situation remains unchanged.

Erstwhile leaders Bolehill No 1 came unstuck at the hands of their own No 2 team who avenged a recent 4-0 defeat in the Six Red cup final in emphatic fashion with a complete reversal in fortunes.
Mark Sayer scored a fine 62-21 win in the opener and despite all the remaining frames being decided on pink or black, they all went the way of the No 2 outfit with Ian Peacock finishing the job with a fine cut in the middle pocket for the whitewash.

There were also four frames decided on the last two balls at Matlock Club, but this time Alfreton Palmer Morewood took maximum points to power to the top of the table.
Simon Mayes edged the opener on the black while Kevin Rowland kept up the pressure for the title of player with most wins with his 14th victory in 17 outings.

Belper Strutt Club remained on terms thanks to a 3-2 verdict over Matlock Golf Club. Graham Jones had the visitors ahead but Paul Jarrett and Steve Bullock took each of their singles and doubles frames to ensure victory.

In the battle of the Edgefold teams, the No 1 cuemen triumphed 3-2 with Rob Muxlow (two 25 breaks earning him the Viva Restaurant weekly accolade) in fine form while Tom Chambers top scored for the vanquished to earn himself Mick Hodgkinson Transport player of the week.
